Stress and Anxiety Treatment
Feeling overwhelmed, exhausted or constantly on edge?
Too much pressure at work. Endless deadlines. Family responsibilities. Financial worries. Trying to hold everything together while feeling like there is never enough time to breathe.
You may feel as though you are constantly juggling everyone else’s needs while quietly running on empty yourself.
Perhaps you wake up already feeling tense. Your mind never switches off. You struggle to relax, sleep properly or feel truly present.
And no matter how hard you try, it feels like life is becoming harder to manage.
If this sounds familiar, stress may be taking a much bigger toll on your body and mind than you realise.
What is stress?
Stress is the body’s natural response to pressure.
When we face danger or intense pressure, the nervous system activates what is often called the “fight or flight” response - releasing stress hormones such as adrenaline to help us react quickly and stay safe.
In short bursts, this response is helpful.
The problem comes when stress never really switches off.
Modern life often keeps us in a near constant state of pressure - work demands, family concerns, financial stress, relationship difficulties, health worries and trying to cope with everything all at once.
When the body stays in this heightened state for too long, stress can begin affecting both physical and emotional wellbeing.
You may find yourself feeling permanently tense, overwhelmed or emotionally exhausted.
Signs and symptoms of stress
Stress affects everybody differently.
Sometimes it creeps up gradually until feeling overwhelmed simply becomes your “normal”.
You may recognise some of these common symptoms of stress and anxiety:
Feeling tired even after a full night’s sleep
Difficulty relaxing or switching off
Constant overthinking or worrying
Irritability, frustration or feeling emotionally overwhelmed
Difficulty concentrating or brain fog
Poor memory or forgetfulness
Changes in appetite or comfort eating
Increased alcohol use to unwind
Trouble sleeping or waking in the night
Muscle tension, shoulder pain or back pain
Headaches, migraines or jaw tension
Digestive issues or indigestion
Feeling anxious, restless or unable to cope
Frequent minor illnesses or lowered immunity
Many people are surprised to realise how much ongoing stress can affect their physical health, emotional wellbeing and relationships.
When stress starts affecting your life
You may still be functioning on the outside - going to work, managing family life, getting things done.
But internally, you feel exhausted.
Small things begin feeling harder to manage. You may feel snappy, emotional, disconnected or unable to cope in the way you once could.
For some people, prolonged stress can also lead to anxiety, panic attacks, burnout, poor sleep, low mood or feeling emotionally stuck.
The body can only stay in survival mode for so long.
Therapy for stress, anxiety and tension
If stress has become overwhelming, support can help.
Therapy offers a space to slow things down, understand what is keeping your nervous system stuck in overdrive, and begin reducing the emotional and physical effects of chronic stress.
Many people seek support for:
Work stress and burnout
Anxiety and overwhelm
Relationship or family stress
Financial stress and worry
Sleep difficulties caused by stress
Emotional exhaustion and feeling unable to switch off
Tension, overwhelm and constant pressure
