What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural phenomenon that you experience many times during the day, for example when reading a good book or watching television. It is only a wonderfully relaxed state. Hypnosis is not sleep and you will be conversing with me during the session.
Will I remember what happened in the session?
Yes, you will have total recall of everything that has happened during the session. You are always in total control. You are able to hear everything the hypnotist says to you and can converse with her if this is required.
Are there some people who cannot be hypnotised?
Anyone who can follow simple instructions can be hypnotised. People who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be considered for treatment.
Will I be going to sleep?
No! You will be conscious of everything during the session. Your body will feel wonderfully heavy and relaxed but your mind will be focused and alert.
What will it feel like?
There is no such thing as a hypnotised feeling. In hypnosis you will feel exactly the same as you would if you were engrossed in a book or absorbed in a good movie. It is simply a very relaxed feeling that most people wish they never had to leave behind.
Will I lose control?
No. You are always completely in control of your body and thoughts. You cannot be made to do or say things you don't want to. Hypnosis is absolutely safe and has been used for a long time by dentists, doctors and psychotherapists. It is a proven therapeutic aid. My professional code of conduct and ethics means that you don't need to worry anyway.
Will I remember everything?
How will I feel when I finish my session?
You will feel fine. You will be able to drive and go back to work if you wish.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on individual cases. Stopping smoking is dealt with in two sessions, the first lasting 90-120 minutes. Other problems take more time and this can be discussed when you come in for your free initial consultation.
What is the Mind Empowerment Programme?
The Mind Empowerment programme is a five to six session programme that allows you to create a high self-esteem and strong inner foundations. If you create these strong foundations you eradicate your anxiety based symptoms.
What happens in the sessions?
In the sessions I teach you about how the body and mind work together, recognising and eliminating unhelpful thinking.
Who should do the Mind Empowerment Programme?
Anybody who wants to improve their lives.
How many sessions will I need?
People generally only need five to six weekly sessions.
How long are the sessions?
Sessions are usually for one hour each week.
Do you do group sessions?
No. The Mind Empowerment programme can be delivered to groups but in my experience one-to-one sessions are more successful.
What is required of me?
To obtain the best results from the programme you will need to be actively participating in the sessions and applying the knowledge you have gained from our sessions into your day-to-day life. There is no wand involved - you will need to put in the effort!
If you do this your life will change incredibly.
Is this like counselling?
Not at all. This programme teaches you how to manage your thinking in the here-and-now so there is no need to go over past traumas and hurts. Counselling can be very helpful in assisting people to recognise how their past experiences have shaped them but unfortunately doesn't seem to help them actually overcome their problems and move on.
